When you talk to the press, it's permanent, even a lie ...

I want people to get to know the friends of the accused involved in the death of trucker David Virgoe a little better.
Seems my previous post about an email I received from P. stirred the pot a bit.

Those friends who were there that day allegedly told police different accounts of what happened. Rumor has it that last month, one or two came forward, guilty conscience in hands, and admitted what really happened hence the new charges that were laid against Ravi Badhwar. Ravi got bail.

Below is an account sent to me and publicly available online what was released by police in a press release to the media on June 19th.

Also attached to this post is a picture courtesy of TorStar Media that shows the aftermath of the crash at 11:30 am on June 18th, 2007.

Below are the details of the initial release:

A Mississauga man (Ravi Badhwar) is one of two people charged in connection with yesterday’s horrific crash on Hwy. 400 that caused the death of a tanker truck driver.

Two male drivers are charged, one from Mississauga and the other from Etobicoke. One drove a black Mustang (Prabhjit Multani), the other a green Pontiac Grand Am (Nauman Nusrat). They were taking friends to Wasaga Beach on a break from final exams yesterday.

They face at least five charges each, including criminal negligence causing death, dangerous driving causing injury and bodily harm and dangerous driving by racing.

Ontario Provincial Police Sgt. Cam Woolley said investigators will treat the investigation as if it were a homicide (Note to P. THIS IS WHY THIS IS NO ACCIDENT or ERRORS IN JUDGEMENT).

The crash was eerily similar to one that occurred just 48 hours before. Yesterday’s catastrophe, police say, was caused by two young male drivers speeding along Hwy. 400.

The 11:30 a.m. incident in the northbound lanes of the highway near Bradford closed the highway in both directions all day.

It took place just two kilometres north of where a high-speed Saturday-night crash in the southbound lanes, also involving two young drivers, left 11 injured and closed the highway in both directions for 14 hours.

Tina Hannahson, 37, of Mississauga, who was heading north in the centre lane of the highway yesterday, said the nightmare unfolded in front of her when at least three cars raced past her in the right lane.

Moments before, she had let the tanker – which police said was empty – merge in front of her from the left.

I got cut off by a Mustang (Prabhjit Multani),” said Hannahson. “He went into the left lane and then he came around in front of the truck and cut the truck off.”

The 21-year-old male driver of a third car, a green Honda (Ravi Badhwar), was charged with dangerous driving. Police determined the Etobicoke man was not directly or indirectly involved in the collision and his car was some distance behind the other two when the collision occurred (IT IS ALLEGED THIS IS BASED ON EVIDENCE ENTERED INTO POLICE RECORD PROVIDED BY FRIENDS OF THE ACCUSED).

The driver of a Jeep also involved in the accident was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Several witnesses described the Mustang (Prabhjit Multani) and Grand Am (Nauman Nusrat) travelling at high speed (WITNESSES TOLD POLICE IT WAS IN ALLEGEDLY IN EXCESS OF 170km/hr) and weaving in and out of lanes before the crash occurred, just south of Hwy. 89.

“One or more of the vehicles caused the truck driver to swerve (ACTUALLY, NAUMAN NUSRAT ALLEGEDLY COLLIDED WITH DAVID VIRGOE'S TRUCK). The truck hit the centre median and then careened across three lanes of traffic and into a ditch,” an Ontario Provincial Police release said.

The drivers arrested yesterday were with friends from Toronto’s Kipling Collegiate on their way to Wasaga Beach for the day, a passenger in one of the cars said at the crash scene.

“We have exams (today) so we came out to chill,” said Raj Chandpuri, 18, who was in the backseat of the Grand Am. A friend was one of those charged.

Chandpuri said he didn't know how the crash occurred because he was reading at the time (WHO THE HELL SITS IDLY BY READING WHILE THE CAR IS WEAVING AND TRAVELLING AT 170 km/hr?).

Beside him was Tahir Khan, 19, who said he was trying to sleep (ALSO A LIE). A third young male passenger said he’d been asleep also (LIES LIES LIES).

“We're feeling very bad,” said Chandpuri. “We didn’t realize this was going to happen. It was an accident (HELLS NO IT WASN'T).”

Two young women who were passengers in the Mustang said they didn't want to speak about what had happened.

TWO 13 YEAR OLDS DID THIS???

Bloody hell.
What the HELL is wrong with parents of kids these days?

More so, what the HELL is wrong with the two kids who did this?

It is astounding that two children could cause as much damage as they did. Considering they've been caught tells me that neighbors were able to provide statements because there is no way you couldn't notice something like this going on, especially in Newcastle. Considering a message was written specifically by the accused on a wall in the home directed at one of the children who lived in the home, this may have been a planned attack: retaliation? revenge? bullying?
The father has asked himself similar questions over the past two weeks. Whatever the reason, it's wrong on so many levels. I don't even have an answer. It's just so inexcusable.
