Driver distraction blamed for bus, truck collision in Vaudreuil

MONTREAL GAZETTE

QUEBEC - One person was seriously injured and three others suffered minor injuries Tuesday about mid-day when a truck on Highway 40 near the Île aux Tourtes Bridge west of Montreal Island collided with two mini-buses that were parked on the shoulder of the road.

The occupants of the mini-buses included about 20 tourists from Southeast Asia, according to media reports.

The truck driver was distracted when his vehicle struck the buses, reports said.

The Sûreté du Québec spokesperson on the scene could not be reached for further details.

Traffic was said to be heavily backed up in the area.
