Victoria cyclist in critical condition after being hit and dragged by truck

The Province

BRITISH COLUMBIA -
A 28-year-old male cyclist is in critical condition at Victoria General Hospital following a collision with a pickup truck in Colwood Saturday.

The cyclist had been traveling south on Jacklin road shortly after midnight when he suddenly attempted to cross from the east side to the west side of the roadway. He was struck and dragged for approximately 15 feet by the 1988 white Dodge raised pickup truck, which was driven by a 19-year-old West Shore resident.

It appears the cyclist was wearing mostly dark clothing and not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.

The driver immediately went to the aid of the cyclist following the collision.

An investigation is ongoing. Anyone who may have witnessed this traffic collision is asked to call West Shore RCMP at 250-474-2264.
