BRITISH COLUMBIA -
Donna Boisselle, 45 of Langley has been sentenced following her conviction for Impaired Driving Causing Death relating to the head on collision that took the life of then 63 year old Jack Van Hove in 2008.

The call came in just after 9:30 p.m. on February 22, 2008. Two vehicles had collided head on in the 3500 block of 216 Street. Jack Van Hove, who had been driving a Honda Element, was pronounced deceased by BC Ambulance Service. Boisselle had been driving a Toyota Forerunner.

Donna Boisselle had been southbound on 216 Street and Jack Van Hove was northbound. Both vehicles sustained major damage to the front driver’s side quarter.

Boisselle showed symptoms of impairment but had sustained some facial injuries so a warrant to obtain samples of her blood was obtained. Subsequent analysis showed her blood alcohol content to be in excess of three times the legal limit.

Boisselle plead guilty to Impaired Driving Causing Death on August 4, 2009. She appeared in Surrey Provincial Court on November 10th and received the following sentence:

• 18 months in custody
• 36 months probation (to begin on her release from custody)
