ONTARIO -
A Newmarket court sentenced Barrie’s Alan MacDonald to 30 months for failing to remain the scene of a collision causing bodily harm, six months concurrently for driving while disqualified, and three months concurrent for breach of probation.

The sentencing Wednesday follows Macdonald’s guilty plea of hitting pedestrian Joseph Rochon with his vehicle on the night of Feb. 8 on Dunlop Street West.

Rochon was left injured in the snow for approximately six hours until spotted in the ditch by a passing motorist. An investigation resulted in a search warrant being executed at 52-year-old MacDonald’s home where the involved vehicle was located.

The victim received severe and potentially permanent physical and physiological injuries as a result of being hit by the car.
