BRITISH COLUMBIA - Police have identified the homeless man killed in an apparent hit-and-run incident in Langley, B.C., on Monday night and believe they might be closer to identifying the driver and vehicle that hit him.
The man was identified through fingerprints as Julian Michael Kirk, 51, RCMP said in a release Wednesday.
He was hit by a vehicle in dark and rainy conditions about 6:45 p.m. PT on the southbound side of 200 Street near 59 Avenue.
Surveillance footage obtained from a commercial business in the area showed a tractor-trailer southbound on 200 Street at the time, said Cpl. Holly Marks .
Investigators were able to identify the trucking company associated to the tractor, Marks said.
"Subsequent inquiries have identified a person of interest in this investigation," she said, adding that "search warrants have been obtained" and were being executed.
Kirk was homeless but had family in the Langley area, said Marks.
He was carrying no identification when he died.
Investigators also could find no vehicle debris at the scene, leading them to speculate that Kirk was already lying on the road when he was run over.

Hit-and-run death in Langley, B.C.
BRITISH COLUMBIA - A man has been killed in an apparent hit-and-run incident near 200th Street and 59th Avenue in Langley, B.C.
RCMP said the victim may have been homeless, and they appealed for witnesses to come forward.
Police were called at about 6:45 p.m. PT Monday when a passing motorist noticed a body lying on the road in the curb lane of the southbound lanes of 200 Street, RCMP Cpl. Holly Marks said in a news release..
Marks said a shopping cart nearby contained miscellaneous items that suggested the middle-aged man was homeless, but he has not been identified.
The coroner was on the scene late Monday, along with police specialists in reconstructing crashes.
Police said they had no witnesses to the collision and therefore no description of the vehicle.
Vehicle debris can often help identify a make, model and year, but Marks said no such evidence was found in a preliminary search.
Police asked that anyone who witnessed the incident or who has information about a suspect vehicle to call Langley RCMP at 604-532-3200 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
