QUEBEC -
A 34-year-old Oka man has been taken to the hospital for evaluation following a police chase Wednesday morning on eastbound Highway 640.

The man was apprehended after his car veered off the highway into a ditch, near the Highway 13 cutoff.

Neither the driver nor the Sûreté du Québec officers following him were injured, police said.

The man's wife called police at 7:30 a.m. to say her husband was feeling suicidal. When police arrived at the home, the man had already left in a car.

When police tried to intercept the driver, he headed east on Highway 640, veering from side to side of the road before ending in the ditch.

It is not yet known whether the man will be charged for his erratic drinvng or his failure to stop for police, SQ Sgt. Benoit Richard said.
