Senior in serious condition after St. Catharines driveway incident

ONTARIO - An 81-year-old St. Catharines man is in hospital after being pinned between a van and a house Saturday morning.

Niagara Regional Police say the man was directing a van that was backing into his driveway in the Glenridge area. The 83-year-old driver of the van accelerated suddenly, pinning the 81 year-old between the van and the building. The van then crashed into a detached garage and hit a parked vehicle inside.

Police say the driver was not hurt.

The 81-year-old was originally taken to the St. Catharines General with minor injuries, but his condition deteriorated. Police say he is in serious, but stable condition.
