Update: Speed, alcohol believed factors in Oakville fatal

ONTARIO -
On Wednesday at about 2:30 p.m., Portage la Prairie RCMP responded to a two- vehicle collision near Oakville.

Investigation revealed a 1995 Toyota sedan was traveling northbound on Highway 13 near Oakville when it struck the rear of a northbound transport truck, losing control and rolling over several times in the east ditch.

The driver, a 58-year-old man from the Rural Municipality of Portage, was ejected from the vehicle and was found deceased at the scene.

There were no other injuries.

Portage RCMP, Regional Health Ambulance Service, and Portage Emergency Services attended the scene, as well as an RCMP traffic collision analyst who conducted a scene exam.

Traffic was detoured for about two hours before the highway was re-opened to traffic.

Witnesses report good road conditions at the time of the collision.

Speed and alcohol are considered to be factors at this time.

RCMP reminds drivers that seatbelt use is mandatory, and can save lives in a collision.

No other information is available at this time. Police continue to investigate.

Single Vehicle Rollover/Fatality Near Oakville MB

MANITOBA -
RCMP are diverting traffic at the scene of a single rollover fatality near Oakville. Traffic is blocked on highway 13 at the intersection of 331. However police officers are on the scene detouring traffic around the crash site.

Police confirm the lone occupant of the passenger car involved in the crash died at the scene.

RCMP expect the intersection to remain closed until at least 6 o'clock Wednesday night.
