MANITOBA
- It took two spike belts before police could stop an allegedly drunk woman who was speeding down a road with a 7-year-old child in the front passenger seat Saturday afternoon.

RCMP first received a report that the driver had hit a light standard in the community of Winnipegosis earlier in the day.

The vehicle, a four-door black sedan, was located 20 kilometres north of Dauphin on highway 20. Police chased the vehicle about 60 kilometres over two rural municipalities, reaching speeds of 100 kilometres per hour.

After the car was stopped with two spike belts, police discovered the child in the front seat.

The 37-year-old woman faces charges of impaired operation of a motor vehicle, refusing to provide a breath sample, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, failing to comply with a probation order, flight from police as well as several provincial statue charges.

No one was injured during this incident.

Thank goodness a collision did not happen with this 7 year old in the front passenger seat. If the air bag had gone off they surely would have been decapitated by the force of it.
