Source: Kelowna Capital News

BRITISH COLUMBIA -
Kelowna RCMP confirmed Monday morning that a man who was airlifted to Kelowna General Hospital Saturday night after a collision near Pennask Summit on Highway 97C, died from his injuries on Saturday night in hospital.

He was 36 years old, from Surrey, but police have not yet released his name.

Investigation has revealed that the driver lost control of his vehicle at approximately 10:50 a.m. while driving westbound, and struck the rear of a snow plow that was stopped on the side of the highway while the operator was helping another motorist who had gone off the road.

At the time the roads were covered with snow, slush and ice but visibility was good.

Traffic was impacted on the highway for a period of time due to the accident itself and later to permit a helicopter to land and medi-vac the male occupant of the private vehicle to KGH for treatment of his critical injuries.

The matter is still under investigation.
