ONTARIO - Two Bayham women were sent to hospital in London, Ont., both listed in critical condition, after a two-vehicle crash just before 11:30 a.m. Friday.
Elgin OPP report the collision took place at the intersection of Jackson Line and Plank Road, just south of Straffordville in Bayham township.
A 1997 Chevy Blazer was eastbound on Jackson Line approaching Plank Road with a 19-year-old woman at the wheel. Seated beside her was a 50-year-old woman, and in the back seat was a four-year-old boy. All, are Bayham residents.
As the Blazer entered the intersection it was in collision with a 1992 GMC pickup truck, operated by a 27-year-old Bayham man, which was southbound on Plank Road. The impact was on the driver's side of the Blazer.
Plank Road is the through road with a posted speed limit of 80 km-h.
Police are not releasing the names of those involved, but say all parties from both vehicles were transported to Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital.
The teenage driver of the Blazer was later airlifted to London Health Sciences Centre, Victoria Campus, with life-threatening injuries.
Her female passenger was also later transferred to Victoria in critical, but stable, condition.
The young boy was not injured.
The driver of the pickup truck is listed in serious, but stable, condition in Tillsonburg hospital. OPP technical traffic collision investigators were brought in to assist with the investigation.
