Winnipeg Perimeter Hwy crash sends two to hospital

Source: Winnipeg Sun

MANITOBA -
Two people were taken to hospital after three vehicles collided on the Perimeter Highway this morning.

Headingley Traffic Services say two vehicles and a grader crashed into each other just before 7 a.m. on the Perimeter south of Inkster Boulevard.

The two drivers of the vehicles were taken to hospital, one to the Grace Hospital in stable condition and the other to Health Sciences Centre with unknown injuries.

RCMP say the grader operator was not injured.

RCMP say its not clear what led up to the crash and resconstructionists are working at the scene.

It initially appears, however, that the grader was crossing the West Perimeter Highway from the east to the west when the collision occurred, said RCMP.

Southbound traffic on the west Perimeter at the scene of the crash was reduced to one lane, while northbound traffic was diverted to a gravel road for about three hours.

The area re-opened to traffic by 10 a.m.

Drivers are asked to avoid the area.

Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to call Headingley Traffic Services at (204)984-6913.
