MANITOBA -
A 62-year-old woman has died from injuries sustained in a highway collision last week.

The woman was a passenger in a pickup truck that crashed into a semi-tractor on Oct. 27 at the intersection of the Trans-Canada Highway and Highway 250 in the rural municipality of Whitehead.

The woman, a resident of the town of Alexander, just west of Brandon, was transported to Winnipeg's Health Sciences Center where she died Oct. 31, police said. Her name is not being released at this time.

The 53-year-old driver of the semi-tractor has been charged for failing to stop at the intersection. He is from the community of Elgin, about 65 kilometres southwest of Brandon.

According to police, the crash occurred just before 9 a.m. when the man was driving the semi on Highway 250 and rolled onto the Trans-Canada.

That's where it was struck by the pickup, which was heading east on the Trans-Canada.

The pickup, driven by a 25-year-old man from the Alexander area, had four passengers: the 62-year-old woman as well as two other female adults aged 27 and 53, and a three-month-old child.

The passengers were all taken to Brandon Regional Health Center. The 62-year-old was then rushed to hospital in Winnipeg, while the others were treated and released in Brandon.

The semi-tractor's driver is from the community of Elgin, about 65 kilometres southwest of Brandon.
