Woman dies in crash on Highway 7 near Perth

ONTARIO - A 26-year-old woman is dead after her car hit a truck on Highway 7 Thursday evening.

Ontario Provincial Police said Melissa Tyson of Central Frontenac Township had to be extricated from her vehicle by firefighters after her car collided head on with an eastbound five-tonne truck west of Glen Tay Road around 5:50 p.m.

Tyson was taken to Perth Hospital, where she died of her injuries. The truck driver was unharmed.

Police said traffic was disrupted in the area until the road reopened around 6 a.m. Friday. The collision took place 90 kilometres southwest of Ottawa.
