Fatal crash in Ahuntsic

QUEBEC - A man in his 40s is dead after a two-car collision in Ahuntsic Friday night.

One car may have run a red light at the corner of Guertin and Dudemain Sts., said police.

Three people in their 20s were also injured in the crash.

Police are still investigating.

Smith created, and along with her associate editor Peter B., manages the only education, news and incident website about traffic and driving in Canada called, Education for the Driving Masses.com. Peter B., this site's associate editor, is a retired father of two with an I.T. background in the automotive industry. Peter lost someone very special in his life in 2008 at the hands of an alcohol and drug-impaired driver.

This tragedy has provided the impetus for him to start researching impaired driving and the problems that poor driving habits are causing today on Canadian roads. He also helps manage and edit the Drunk Driving Masses.com website.

Peter shoots from the hip on the issues surrounding impaired driving, but also understands the grief, sadness and frustration experienced by victims of impaired driving. Peter can be reached at editor@thedrunkdrivingmasses.com

Julie King
Julie is a licensed driving instructor and car racing enthusiast, but her full time job has her marketing wine for a living. Julie lost her father two weeks before she graduated university to a driver who ran a red light and struck her father after he crossed the street after finishing shopping for Julie's graduation present - a ring. Julie's father was killed instantly. Initially charged with impaired, the driver who killed her father walked away with only a fine after the charges were eventually dropped. The ring, still in the jewelry store bag which flew out of her father's hands when he was hit, was found by a woman a day later who returned it to the store. The owner held onto it until he felt Julie was ready to receive it. It took him nearly a year to call Julie's mother who didn't know about the gift. When Julie received the ring, she noticed an inscription on the band. It reads, "You. My world. My star. - Love Dad".
