Highway 400 into Barrie re-opened after fatal pedestrian collision this morning

ONTARIO -
The northbound lanes of Highway 400 at Dunlop Street reopened approximately four hours after an incident involving a tractor-trailer that struck and killed a pedestrian at approximately 5:24 am.

The victim was reportedly walking in the northbound lane of the highway.

"It is unclear at this time why the pedestrian was on the roadway," according to the OPP release. "The 39-year-old male pedestrian was transported to Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie where he was pronounced deceased."

His name was not released. The collision remains under investigation.
