Source: News919.com [adapted]

NEW BRUNSWICK - Codiac RCMP say it's too early to determine if any charges will be laid after a 14 year-old girl was killed while crossing a road Monday evening.

The incident happened at McLaughlin Road and Hennessey Drive at approximately 5pm.

Codiac RCMP Staff Sergeant Gilles Gallant says they are continuing to investigate.

He says it was dark at the time of the accident with poor visibility, and that the victim was wearing dark clothing. (So? - Editor)

He also said the girl was in a crosswalk at the time of the incident (And the driver wasn't aware he/she was approaching a crosswalk - was it also wearing dark clothing? - Editor).

Her name has not been released.

I don't think it should ever matter what the weather was like when a person is killed by a car. Drivers need to be more vigilant, especially at intersections - always scanning and looking for those who may risk crossing the road. That's OUR JOB. Not some poor kid who would have zero knowledge of traffic law.
