ONTARIO - A man is dead after his vehicle collided with a truck and then rolled into the ditch, Monday.
The crash happened around noon, on Highway 89, just west of Cookstown.
Nottawasaga OPP Const. Melody Tourigny said a truck, which was hauling a trailer, was eastbound on the highway when a car, carrying a single occupant and a dog, approached from the opposite direction.
Police say the car swerved into the truck's lane, forcing the truck's driver to take evasive action. However, the car clipped the truck's front wheel, causing it to roll several times into a field.
The male driver had no vital signs when emergency crews arrived.
The dog survived and is being cared for by the Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (OSPCA).
The names, ages or hometowns have been released pending notification of next-of-kin.
The investigation continues.
