BRITISH COLUMBIA - On Friday at 5:30pm, the Quesnel Traffic Services Unit attended a two vehicle fatal collision on Hwy 97 near Red Bluff Rd. A Chevrolet pickup traveling southbound on Hwy 97 struck a northbound Nissian Sentra. The two occupants in the Nissan (mother and adult son) had been traveling from Kamloops to Prince George for a family reunion.
The two occpants of this vehicle were pronounced dead at the collison scene. The sole occupant of the Chevrolet Pickup suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries and was taken to Quesnel Hospital.
Alcohol and Speed do not appear to be a factor in this collison. A medical issue may have been a contributing factor that the investigator is presently investigating. The North District Collision Reconstructionist and Coronor also attended the scene. If anyone may have witnessed this collision is asked to contact Cst. Ryan Arthur of the Quesnel Traffic Services at 250-992-9211.
Sgt. Reinhold Weissbock, Area Commander for Cariboo-Chilcoltin Traffic Services, wishes to remind anyone traveling at this time of the year to take extra care while on the highways.

What a tragedy! some would look at this and say it was an UNPREVENTABLE accident. Sadly enough, many people still drive their vehicles even when they have a serious medical condition that could possibly effect their ability to safely drive a vehicle. And i dont care if you are the idiot that doesnt care what happens to himself, a decent human being would care if he was putting someone elses life in danger. Im not saying that was necessarily the case in this accident but i have seen this scenario far too much and think that there needs to be a strict law or some kind of enforcement that keeps these people off the road. Granted, it SUCKS if you cant drive anywhere all the time just because of a little chest pain or cuz you get a wierd headache once in a while. But what really really really really SUCKS EVEN MORE, is being the guy that wakes up and has to see the rescuers pulling out somebodies dead 7 year old daughter, who was missing an arm, had a visibly broken neck and i had to stop half way to pick up the piece of skin that used to be her face so i could put it in the bodybag with her. then i grabbed her arm and did the same. I also grabbed her little Hello Kitty wrist watch and put it in there with her, because she was wearing it in the crash. The driver of the other vhicle that hit hers, had a medical condition that should have kept him off the road. I would really rather have to beg my buddy for a ride or get a taxi instead. or what if you die? sure you probably WONT, but russian roullet is a shitty game to play. I think about that little girl once a day at least.
