ALBERTA -
A 30-year-old man died after his snowmobile crashed into a sport utility vehicle east of Edmonton on Sunday afternoon.

Police said they responded to a report of a collision on Range Road 213 north of Township Road 540 in northeast Strathcona County at approximately 1:15 p.m. local time.

The cause of the crash has not been determined, police said, but it appears the operator of the snowmobile had driven onto the highway from a nearby field when he was hit by the SUV.

The driver of the snowmobile was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver and lone passenger in the SUV were not injured.

The name of the 30-year-old Strathcona County man has not been released.
