Swan River man killed in collision near McCreary MB

MANITOBA - A 57-year-old Swan River man was pronounced dead at the scene of a head-on collision Wednesday afternoon near McCreary, said RCMP.

A southbound passenger van struck a northbound semi-truck on Highway 5, about 8 kms south of McCreary, about 325 km northwest of Winnipeg, at around 1 p.m. The driver of the van died from the collision, said RCMP.

The driver of the semi-truck was taken to hospital with minor injuries and released from hospital.

Road and weather conditions are considered a factor in the crash, with snowfall mixed with high winds causing reduced visibility, said police.

RCMP continue to investigate but said charges are not being considered.
