ONTARIO -
Hamilton police are looking for a lead-footed ‘Cinderella’ after a car slammed into a home on the south Mountain early today.

Police said the fast-moving car slammed into an home on Rexford Drive at 3:20 a.m. and the driver ran away, leaving a running shoe behind.

Rexford is between Upper Sherman and Upper Gage, south of the Linc.

Officers searched the area around the home with a K9 team but were unable to locate the driver to see if the shoe fit.

The crash tore a hole the size of a garage door in the side of the house and woke the occupants, but there were no injuries.

A woman who lives in the house ran outside just in time to see the driver running around worrying about his ‘friends,’ leaving her with the impression someone else had been in the car.

The woman went back into the home to call police and the driver vanished, leaving the heavily damaged car and a shoe behind.

Police are investigating to see if the car has been reported stolen but said the vehicle keys were still in the ignition.

The city building department is checking the extend of structural damage to the home.
