Winnipeg cabbie foils carjacking

Source: Winnipeg Sun

MANITOBA -
Police have charged a 24-year-old woman who allegedly tried to drive off in a Winnipeg man’s taxicab early Sunday.

The attempted carjacking occurred near Fort Street and St. Mary Avenue in downtown Winnipeg about midnight.

Police said the cabbie picked up a female but she allegedly refused to exit and confronted the man with a weapon.

The man fled the car. When the female tried to drive away, the man returned to the car and gained control of it, police said. The suspect then fled.

Police later arrested a female suspect.

Donna Marie Marsden, 24, is charged with robbery with a weapon and two counts of breach of probation.

Really? This car, this ... material thing, was it really worth the danger of confronting someone with a weapon? Would the cab driver's family have understood when the police chaplain came to their door?

Just sayin' - Peter

Regrettably these things happen so fast that most people don't think of the potential consequences.

I do feel for the cab driver. I have a family member who drives a cab and I hear all the horror stories, and that is in 'little' St Catharines.
